Modern IP CCTV systems use P2P (peer-to-peer) cloud relay to connect your phone to your NVR without complex port forwarding.
Setting Up Hikvision Remote Access
On the NVR: Menu > Network > Advanced > Platform Access > Enable Hik-Connect > Set verification code.
On your phone: Download Hik-Connect > Create account > Tap + and scan NVR QR code > Enter verification code > Cameras appear live.
Setting Up Dahua Remote Access
On the NVR: Main Menu > Network > P2P > Enable P2P > Note the SN code.
On your phone: Download DMSS > Create account > Tap + > Add Device > Scan QR code or enter SN.
Troubleshooting

| App shows device offline | Check NVR internet connection |
| Cannot connect on mobile data | Check firewall not blocking P2P |
| Video freezes | Reduce stream quality in app settings |
| Forgot verification code | Reset via NVR local menu |
Security Best Practices
- Change default NVR password immediately
- Keep NVR firmware updated
- Use CCTV VLAN — do not put NVR on corporate network
- Disable unnecessary NVR services
