Access Control Systems in Dubai: Biometric vs Card vs Smart Lock — Which is Best?

SAS IT TeamPublished 21 April 20267 min read

Why Dubai Businesses Are Upgrading to Modern Access Control

Traditional keys get copied, lost, and never returned. Modern access control gives you a complete audit trail, remote management, and instant revocation.

The Four Main Types

RFID Card / Fob: Fast, low cost per door, easy to manage. AED 800 to 1,500 per door. Cards can be lost or cloned.

Fingerprint Biometric: Cannot be shared or cloned. Best for server rooms, pharmacies, finance offices. AED 1,200 to 2,500 per door.

Face Recognition: Contactless, fast, works at distance. Best for turnstiles and high-traffic entries. AED 2,000 to 5,000 per door.

Smart Lock: PIN or smartphone app. Best for SME offices and co-working spaces. AED 1,000 to 3,000 per door.

CCTV + Access Control Integration

When a door opens, the linked camera automatically records the entry. Failed access attempts are flagged with video evidence. Increasingly standard for Dubai offices handling cash or sensitive data.
